DownloadOur equipment is optimized for wool and wool blends. Slick fibers such as Suri Alpaca, some Huacaya Alpaca, some Llama, and Mohair will need to be blended with wool, or we will be unable to process them. Wool may be purchased for blending at $5/pound-- usually 20% by weight is a sufficient blend. Alpaca prices below apply to processing pure Huacaya or Llama fibers.
We can also supply silk and other luxury fibers for blending to make your finished product one-of-a-kind!
Please Ensure Fleeces are Free of Burrs, Dung Tags, and Vegetable Matter. Prices are based on incoming weight. Save yourself extra charges by skirting your fleeces well!

Our equipment best handles fiber with a 3-10 inch staple length. Shorter fibers are unlikely to produce a good quality yarn. Suri and other slick fibers such as mohair or lower crimp Huacaya alpaca will require blending in order to process. We are happy to work with you to source the fibers necessary for blending.
Vegetable matter is not removed by our equipment. The tumbler can remove some fine seeds and chaff, but large pieces will remain. Burrs must be picked out by hand or they will get caught in our machinery-- if you don't do it, we will, and we will charge for it at the rate of $25 an hour, one hour minimum. Save yourself money and pick out burrs and dung tags and skirt your fleeces well before bringing them to the mill! (Processing is charged on incoming weight.)
We wash each fleece at the beginning of the process. Extremely dirty or greasy fleeces may require a second or third wash. We use a standard wool wash formulated especially for protein fibers. We prefer you do not wash your fleeces prior to bringing them to the mill. Pre-washed fleeces, due to the higher volume of fibers to process, will be assessed a $2/pound fee for extra time spinning.
While we wash all wool before processing, as wool moves through the mill and is made into yarn, it can pick up dust and oil from the machines. While we cannot wash roving, we do offer a final wash on skeins of yarn. This also causes yarn to "bloom" and be a bit more fluffy than straight off the machines.
